ONDO NDLEA BOSS WARNS NIGERIANS TO KEEP-OFF THE HARD DRUGS




.....As Odigbo council chairman, Akinsuroju Commends the Agency for Putting illicit Drugs Usage Amongst Nigerians Under Control

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,has warned  Nigerians to stay off from hard drugs due to their effective health damaging capability,as it may also send abusers to early grave.

State Commander of the agency in Ondo State,Mr Mumuni Kayode Raji gave the warning in his keynote address during a one-day sensitisation campaign walks in Ore the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area on Thursday

The 2023 event which had members of the National Association of Patients Medicines Dealers and other health practitioners in attendance with the theme:"People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination,Strengthen Prevention" is to commemorate the United Nations efforts in its fight against unlawful usage of hard drugs and its negative implications in the society.

The NDLEA boss in the State who noted that the essence of the walks across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State is to enable every citizen to stay clear of hard drugs due to its harmful effects on health including insanity.

Mr Mumuni Raji said instead of castigating,stigmatising or discriminating those on hard drugs, members of the society should cancel them by preaching the gospel of repentance to them in order to save lives and also,make the said society free from criminals and ambiguous characters which may be posed by hard drugs.

Also,two guest lecturers,Mr Akintunde Akinyemi of Adeyemi University of Education Ondo,and the Deputy State Commander of the agency,Mrs Jeyifous Yetunde explained that the only way forward to get rid of substance abusers is to stand for them in advice.

Responding, Odigbo Local Council chairman, Deaconess Margret Akinsuroju, however, commended operatives of the narcotics agency in Ondo State for putting numbers of addicts under control during their stop and search operation through prosecution and conviction of offenders,just as she equally thanked the local government chapter of the command for tackling the menace in the area.

While emphasising on proper sanitation and evacuation of lunatics in urban areas, Ore as a case study,for intensive healthcare at psychiatric hospital, Odigbo council chairman explained that the exercise would affect government treasury,advocate for more synergy between government institutions, traditional leaders as well as religion leaders to intensify efforts to contain the abnormality.

Also present at NDLEA campaign against drugs abuse and illicit drugs trafficking exercise were representatives of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, Men of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps,NSCDC, members of the Southwest Security Network also known as Amotekun Corps, community leaders,

Others were NYSC members, students from public owned academic institutions and amongst others.
