...As Ondo lawmakers throw heavy weight behind Tinubu
As 2027 general elections in the country gather momentum,a pro-Tinubu group in Ondo State, Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), has held a strategic meeting with members of the State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the GMT secretariat in Akure on Friday, the state director general, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye pointed out that the discourse of the meeting is aimed at strengthening the group, showing continued supports and solidarity for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reelection in anticipation as 2027 presidential race drawing nigh.
Ogunleye who affirmed that GMT has come to stay in Ondo State, commended the minister for interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for his stern support for president Tinubu's administration.
While expressing confidence that the landslide victories of president Bola Tinubu and other candidates of the ruling party (APC) is achievable in the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria, the former commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state urged members of the GMT across 18 Local Government Areas not to renege in their political crusade and to mobilise eligible voters in their various political wards and units.
He, however, dispelled the rumour and brewing tension from unsuspected individuals that members of the state house of assembly and political appointees are risking their second term tickets and appointments, charging them to be committed, and determined, adding that all groups under the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state are working for the success of the party and president Bola Tinubu.
According to him "this meeting is purely family affairs.
"As leader of our party and father of the nation, we must show gratitude by supporting his reelection"
"The president has done well for this nation and we must reelect him for second term"
"For me, I don't see anyone contending with president Tinubu"
"I can assure you all, APC will win with wide margin comes 2027"
"For your information, Mr governor has assured all the support groups working for the president electiion that he will provide leadership for all"
"To you the lawmakers under my voice, let me salute your courage for identifying with us in the open"
"Since you're working for the success of our great party and president Bola Ahmed Tinubu you're free from being intimidated by any voice" Ogunleye noted
Across session of members of Ondo State House of Assembly at the meeting also pledged their loyalty to consolidate and throw heavy weight behind president Tinubu's reelection bid.
In the same vein, those lawmakers, however, appreciated the interior minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for his support for the group, promised to mobilise people in their various constituencies for the president's reelection.
"We're here today for a meeting as members of the GMT family"
"We're poised to give our unalloy support for the president to be reelected"
"Our appreciation go to the minister for interior for making this support group a reality" Those lawmakers asserted
Personalities in attendance were; GMT secretary, Rasheed Badmus, director of women affairs Chief Mrs Olamide Falana, youth leader of the group Paff Kolade Lawal, member of the advisory committee,Dr Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu, Ondo central women's coordinator,Mrs Funke Adesida, the group's director of women affairs (North) Mrs Akeju, legal adviser Akogun Akinwumi sowore, and Barrister Gbenga Olaniyi.
Also,Members of Ondo State parliament present at the meeting includes; Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji (Odigbo 1),Hon Nelson Akinsuroju(Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo),Hon Afe Felix (Akoko North West 2) , Hon Fatai Atere (Akoko North West 1), Hon. Oluwatoyin Japheth (Akoko North East), and Prophetess Atinuke Witherspoon (Owo 2)
From all indications, LOVELEADSNEWS learnt that other members of the state assembly who are on official assignments including the immediate past deputy speaker Rt Abayomi Akinruntan had earlier sent their apologies to GMT's state leadership.
