Following the posting of Nigeria's 65 carrier and non-carrier ambassadors to 65 countries on Friday for international assignments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ifabiyi Olatunji( JP), has congratulated Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim,and Amb. Joseph Olusola Iji on their diplomatic appointments.
In a statement at the weekend, the lawmaker described the new development as “a significant national recognition that bring immense pride not only to the two energetic leaders and their families, but to the entire people of Ondo State".
Hon. Ifabiyi, in a goodwill message, emphasized the state’s pride in celebrating yet another proud sons of our beloved State who had distinguished themselves with honour and integrity on the national and global stage.
He highlighted the intellectual contributions of the duo, longstanding engagements in policy discourse, and extensive international exposure which, he said have consistently demonstrated their capacities to serve Nigeria at the highest.
The spokesperson of the State House of Assembly further stated that the appointments of both Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim and Amb. Olusola Iji “speak volumes about President Tinubu’s commitment to merit, national inclusion, and the recognition of individuals who have shown unwavering passion for the advancement of Nigeria.
He commended the President for identifying and elevating the technocrats and advocates whose voices and intellectual rigours have contributed to shaping national conversations over the years.
The lawmaker noted that the appointments are shining examples of the possibilities that lie ahead for the people of Ondo State who continue to excel across diverse professional fields.
According to the statement, "both Sen Jimoh Ibrahim and Amb Sola Iji “global footprints – spanning public service, advocacy,humanitarian work, and diplomacy – position them uniquely to project Nigeria’s values, deepen bilateral relations, and promote our national interests with distinction".
The lawmaker, therefore, urged Sen Jimoh Ibrahim and Amb Olusola Iji to continue embodying the virtues of diligence, humility, and patriotism that have characterized their journey thus far, expressing confidence that they would excel as diplomats and serve as bridge-builders of Nigeria’s potential, and a worthy representatives of Ondo State.
He, however, called on party members, stakeholders, and people of Ondo State from all walks of life to join in celebrating the achievement and offer support
The statement concluded by reiterating congratulations to the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his stern support which has orchestrated the national honour, just as he commended the exemplary leadership and commitment of the president to recognizing talents across Nigeria.
Recall that, President Bola Tinubu in an official statement on Friday by his special adviser on media and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the posting of Amb. Joseph Olusola Iji as Nigerian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim as United Nations Permanent Representative respectfully.
