Sacred Seasons: Ondo Lawmaker Felicitates Christians, Muslims

...Congratulates residents of Odigbo for the month of March

The lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifabiyi Olatunji (JP) has felicitated with Christians and Muslims in the state and beyond on the solemn occasion of this year’s Lenten and Ramadan period, urging them to use the sacred moments to pray for enduring peace and progress for Ondo state and Nigeria.

Hon. Ifabiyi who underscored the spiritual significance of the Lenten and Ramadan periods as the very foundation of Jesus Christ’s and Prophet Muhammed (SAW) earthy Ministries, called on worshippers of the two main religions in the state to use the 40 and 30 days fasting period to rekindle bonds and strengthen relationships, especially with neighbours.

The lawmaker tasked faithfuls to emulate the example of Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammed in extending a helping hand to those in needs during this period, noting that the message of sacrifice and compassion must not be lost on them.

“As both Christians and Muslims undertake this year’s Lenten and Ramadan concurrently, I offer my congratulations to faithfuls in Odigbo, Ondo state and beyond".

"Both Lent and Ramadan are sacred periods, not only because it provide an opportunity for spiritual renewal, but also pass on the invaluable message of selflessness,” Hon. Ifabiyi was quoted as saying

“As exemplified by Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed, the 40 and 30-days fasting periods is an opportunity for self-examination and growth in faith, strengthening resolve towards advancing the cause of humanity".

"I call on faithfuls to rededicate themselves to the symbolic message of Lenten and Ramadan, which revolves around sacrifice, compassion and selflessness."

“I also enjoin both Christians and Muslims to embody the life of Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammed by fostering love, brotherliness and helping those in needs in our communities in whatever way possible as well as promote peaceful living".

"Let us not forget to ask for divine intervention for our state and a whole country, especially at a time like this when certain elements are bent on disturbing its peace for selfish reasons.”

Hon. Ifabiyi Olatunji, therefore, prayed for this period of piety to bring peace, strength and spiritual fulfilment and hopes that the journey of the two faiths contribute immensely to the continued peace and progress of Ondo state and Nigeria as a whole.

The lawmaker stated this in a statement made available on Sunday to congratulate people of Odigbo Local Government Area for the month of March.
