The member representing Odigbo Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifabiyi Olatunji, has called on Nigerians to support the government and security agencies in the fight against insecurity across the country.
Speaking on the security challenges facing the nation,the lawmaker stressed that ensuring security is a collective responsibility and urged citizens to work closely with relevant authorities to tackle criminal activities.
According to him, Nigerians should continue to pray for and support security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, civil defence operatives, Amotekun Corps and other security agencies engaged in the battle against insecurity.
“People are quick to blame the government. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, local government chairmen, and other public officials cannot personally take up arms to fight insecurity. Government is doing its best, and citizens must join hands with security agencies to end the menace,” he said.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities for immediate action.
While felicitating with his constituents and other Nigerians on the commencement of the month of June, Ifabiyi encouraged citizens to continue living in peace and harmony.
Reacting to the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, the lawmaker renewed his call for the establishment of state police, describing it as a necessary step toward combating banditry and other criminal activities across the country.
He prayed for the safe return of all kidnapped victims and commended security agencies for their dedication, selflessness, and professionalism in the fight against crime.
The lawmaker further appealed to politicians and stakeholders to conduct their political activities in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act to promote peace and national development.
“Leadership comes from God. Politicians should allow the people to freely choose their leaders. There is no need to castigate or blackmail individuals because of political differences. The will of the people should always be respected,” he stated.
Hon. Ifabiyi also assured his constituents of continued effective and quality representation at the Ondo State House of Assembly.
He concluded by calling on Nigerians to support the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations at all levels of government to achieve their developmental goals.
