Breaking: Fire raze down six shops in Ore

At least, six shops have been razed down in Ore,along Okitipupa-Irele road, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government at the early hours of Saturday by inferno suspected to be electric spark.

According to an eyewitness account, the incident occurred when electrical appliances in one of the shops were not disconnected from wall socket, leading to fire engulfing.

A source, who craved anonymity also told our correspondent that there have been power supply since yesterday, Friday afternoon supplied by transmission company.


Recounting the ordeal,a tailoring shop owner said three sewing machines,two whipping machines,a big Firman generator,one big refrigerator and customers' clothes worth millions of naira were consumed during the incident.

"It was as caused by electric spark. It's happened this morning. I have lost my 3 sewing machines, whipping machines, refrigerator and a big generator set". She narrated.

Five other shop owners also maintained that they received loans from cooperative and other microfinance institutions to establish their businesses, urging the State Government to come to their aid to cushion effects of the inferno either with grant or soft loans.

"We want government assist us with loans. We don't have anything left for us. Some of the money used to found these businesses are from cooperative and Lapo". The said.


Across sessions of residents in Ore, however,appealed to Ondo State Government,the National Emergency Management Agency and the Fire Fighters Agency to resuscitate Ore annex fire service station against future occurrence to avoid loss of lives and properties.

"We hereby to NEMA, and Ondo State government  and other relevant agencies to revive Ore fire station for such an emergency need in future." Said Ore residents.

As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to reach Ore Fire Service Station proved abortive.
