Irele Obaship:Market Union, Farmers groan over insecurity, economic meltdown

Members of Traders Market Union, artisns including farmers in Ode Irele have continue to groan over what they described as alienation, hostility and antisemitism by impostors, calling on the State Government to urgently expedite action on final approval and Staff of Office to one Dr Bamidele Ekunsanmi as the new Olofun of the town.

Speaking with loveleadsnews correspondent at the main marker square of the community, two chieftains of Irele Kingdom who were also farmers, High Chief Abiodun Zachariah and Chief Egbuwalo Odimayo in separate interviews, said, farmers in Ode Irele can no longer cultivate their farms with full attention as some  sponsored thugs are allegedly causing griefs to both subsistence and commercial farmers in the area.

The two elders during interview with newsmen also noted that since the stool of Olofun had remained vacant, thereby paving way for the emergence of monarchial imposition, the town has been harbouring with vices, however, causing retrogression to socioeconomic life of residents of Ode Irele Kingdom.

They also alleged that a set of people who classified themselves as the ruling class have caused segregation in the community setup, succinctly, depriving some people their rights to social amenities, currently leading to many deplorable road in the alienated parts of Ode Irele.

"Irele comprises of Peace-loving people ever since but we find things strange when intruders wagged in with their heinous activities by intimidating our lives with fearful frightful items on our farmlands".

"Farming is our major occupation and that is what we're subjected to".

"In fact, we're also alienated and separated in terms of development. Our road is deplorable while other areas of the community enjoying....". Some notable chiefs admitted.


Also reacting to current spate of insecurity and bad economic system, contributing to the low sales among market men and women of the community, a foodstuffs merchant, Mrs Cecilia Ikuyinminu and a petty traders in their separate discussion, said,absence of credible traditional ruler could be said to be the remote cause of economic setback of Irele Kingdom.

The two spokespersons to traders union in Ode Irele in assentient manners explained that unless the authentic Olofun elect, Dr Bamidele Ekunsanmi since 2013, finally emerged as Olofun to-be,the community may still remain in darkness, stating that he had been duly installed,only waiting for government's approval of Staff of Office where the case is still pending in court.

Across sessions of them who spoke vehemently on untold hardship, social unrest and untimely death among the youths of Irele community were as a result of undermining tradition, calling on all viable chiefs and other well-meaning sons and daughters of the Kingdom to urgently intervene by supporting the traditionally chosen Bamidele Ekunsanmi to occupy the vacant stool of Olofun.

"We market women and rest members of MTU know that the economic strength of Irele is no more due to inability the kingdom to properly fix right person to fill the vacant Olofun stool".

"We are experiencing economic sabotage because there some rites needed to be performed by Oba". We appeal to governor Rotimi Akeredolu to give Bamidele Ekunsanmi Staff of Office. He's the one people want as Oba in Irele town". Traders Union members noted.

The people also urged the supreme court of justice not to stay too long to deliver the judgement, adding that just delay is justice denied,just as they appealed to Ondo State Government to issue Staff of Office to Dr Bamidele Ekunsanmi since all necessary documents have been forwarded to the Ministry of Local and Chieftaincy Affairs in order to return socioeconomic sustainability back to Irele Kingdom and its environs capable to social life of all people in the affected community.
