FINALLY AKPABIO, TAJUDEEN EMERGE AS SENATE PRESIDENT, SPEAKER OF THE 10TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLIES

The newly elected Senate President, Senator Goodwill Akpabio on Tuesday said the tenth National Assembly would never rest on its oars to work with the federal executive arm of government in an anticipation to revitalize and resuscitate economy of Nigeria.

Senator Akpabio made the declaration after he emerged as Senate President, having scored 63 votes to defeat his rival Senator Abubakar Yari who had 46 votes in the senate leadership contest during tenth National Assembly Inauguration ceremony held at the upper chamber in Abuja.

The Senate President who congratulated all other colleagues for being parts of the tenth cabinets tasked both the National Assembly and Federal House of  Representatives to ensure that they represent the interest of Nigerians instead of their personal gains.

Senator Akpabio while assuring Nigerians of better country quoted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the era of election has gone but good governance, saying the good adventure of the current administration would be spread across all sections of the country.

He restated that to place a nation high there must be a collective efforts of those at the helms of affairs by rejuvenating every sectors in the country, adding that youths inclusive programmes are essential to solve the problem of unemployment in the country.

Meanwhile,Hon Tajudeen Abbas from Zaria Federal Constituency Kaduna State has emerged as Speaker and Hon Benjamin Kalu Ugochie as deputy speaker of the Federal House of Representatives respectively.

Tajudeen polled 353 votes to defeat Aminu Jaji and Idris Waziri who scored 3 votes each.
