Flooding:ONDO LEGISLATIVE MEMBER,IFABIYI ALERTS CONSTITUENTS,OTHERS ON ADVERSE EFFECTS ON INDISCRIMINATE DUMPING OF REFUSE ON WATERWAYS




..... Urging House-Owners to Award Their Building Projects to Experts For Adequate Land Utilisation


A State lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency I at the Ondo State House of Assembly,Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji has alerted his constituents and other residents of the State on adverse effects on indiscriminate dumping of refuse on waterways,urging them to desist to avert flooding and other unnecessary hardships.

Hon Ifabiyi gave the warning in Akure the Ondo State capital barely twenty-four hours that the House reached a conclusive resolution on measures and plans as holistic approach to be adopted in preventing natural disasters and its surge across the State.

Speaking on solutions to curb incessant flooding in some parts the State,the legislator asked residents of Odigbo Constituency I and other house owners in the State to abolish the attitude of blocking gutters and drainages in their immediate environment, noting that when there is easy passage of water, that there would be its free flow.

Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji,who is a member of the State House committee on ecological problems also urged his constituents and residents of the State at large to always create avenue for layouts by awarding their building projects to experts for adequate land utilisation that would give room for proper construction of drainages in their respective domains.

The Legislative member and former Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Commerce and Industry, therefore advised all residents of the State to be more cautious of their environment and ensure proper disposal of refuse and clear debris when and where necessary to avert ecological problems.

It would be recalled that the house had on Tuesday constituted a committee chaired by Hon. Ololade Gbegudu to adopt legislative tools to solve the menace.

Other members are Hon. Ifabiyi Olatunji, Hon. Olawumi Fayemi, Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju, Hon. Rotimi Abitogun, Hon. Babatunde Fasonu and Mr Tope Odole as Secretary.

News also learnt that the Ondo State House of Assembly at the plenary,has summoned the commissioner for Environment, Mr Sunday Akinwalere to appear before the house next week Tuesday.
