Flooding: ODSG CAUTIONS RESIDENTS DUMPING DEBRIS ON WATERWAYS,LIVING NEARBY RIVERS




As Ondo Lawmaker,Commissioner Visit Ore,Sympathise with Owners of Properties Swept by Water

....Speak on Urgent Intervention


Ondo State government said it is committed in providing an enabling atmosphere and a saving haven for its  citizens,as no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that no life is lost to binomial or natural disaster in the state.

Chairman House Committee on Public Account at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji made this known on Thursday,while inspecting some areas where flood wreak havoc following a torrential rain that fell for several hours few days ago in Ore,the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of the State.

Hon Ifabiyi,while sympathising with those lost their properties to the recent flood, that has rendered some homeless,though,no life was reportedly lost in the process,he condemned in strong term those dumping debris on waterways,urging them to refrain from such arbitrary behaviour as it mostly common among residents.

The lawmaker said that,the state governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, CON is committed and saddles with responsibility to protect lives and properties of all residents of the State,he hailed the governor for the provision of three excavators in the state which were distributed to each senatorial district,noting that the one in south is currently under repair.

He posited that,as government would not fold its arms and allow whether or not predicted disaster to claim residents lives nor their property,Ifabiyi maintained that the concerned ministry would be communicated and bold step would be taken to provide alternative means, gave one week ultimatum to residents that expertise would commence channelization works in those affected areas.

In the same vein, commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Alhaji Amidu Takuro in company of the State Legislator Ifabiyi Olatunji,warned residents living in areas surrounded by water to be cautious of estrange water surge as a result of flood in order to save their dear lives. 

While mapping out affected areas,the duo told residents to cooperate with adept when arrive at the site with machine for the operation,as this may affect some landed properties especially those around river during construction process.

The present administration in Ondo State is committed to secure lives and Properties of its citizens by making life bearable for residents through proffering solutions to ecological problems and others valuable projects.

On this matter we will direct the attention of the concerned ministry to this menace and I can assure you the construction work would start in one week time

What we need from you people is cooperation,be friendly with experts while on their duty track as this may cause pulling down of some illegal buildings. Ifabiyi and Takuro cautioned

Recounting their ordeals,two of the affected Victims,a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC,Mrs Taiwo Adesokan,and Ondo State Park Management Committee worker,Mr Mathew Ayewalehin said the flood took over all their belongings which made residents scampered for safety. 

The two,on behalf of others residents appreciated the lawamker representing Odigbo Constituency 1 Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji and his counterpart,the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Amidu Takuro for their humane visit.

It was a red letter day when flood ravage everywhere here where several belongings were swept away by water.
