The Ondo State chapter of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), has called on Nigerians to pray fervently for the nation amidst the wake of banditry, kidnapping and other social unrest confronting the country.
The special interdenominational power packaged prayer programme is aimed at supporting the Ondo State, and the Federal Government in the fight against security challenges in Nigeria and other problems threatening the peace of the nation which was attended by Christian and Islamic clerics, women from the two main religions, as well as, market women and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress,(APC) in the state.
Addressing prayer warriors on Thursday in Oka Akoko in Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of the state, the convener and Ondo State Director General of GMT , Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, urged Nigerians to promote love and virtue as a strategy to stop insecurity, sustain national unity and give room for peace.
Ogunleye explained that the prayer session was organised for Akoko Southwest/ Akoko Southeast Local Government Areas to seek God’s intervention over insecurity and other challenges facing the country.
Describing prayer as the master key and potent solution to intercede in all mysteries and challenges of life, the former youth and sports commissioner in the state, said the fact remains that the country at the moment was going through difficult times judging by the recent killings during a banditry attack in Kwara where worshippers killed at the Christ Apostolic Church Eruku,17 kidnapped victimed in Isapa community, including the adopted Kebbi State School Girls as well as other social ills.
According to him, “The challenge of insecurity has continued to assume various dimensions. They are dimensions which affect every aspect of our daily living".
“This development has raised concern for every Nigerian. This is the reason why Ondo GMT resolved to organize this prayer. We all need to approach the Almighty God to urgently change the direction of events in our nation and make us healthy again.”
“As mothers in the land, we have come together under the auspices of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu to seek the face of God and pray for the peace and security in Nigeria. This designed power packaged prayer session is part of the Programme declared by GMT leaders across Ondo State".
“Any situation in God’s control can never get out of control. We have the assurance and firmly trust that our God will restore peace and tranquility to the nooks and crannies of this country, and it is for this reason that we have gathered here today to pray,”
“In the absence of peace, there can be no development. We are truly and genuinely interested in the progress of this country. When women pray, speedy answers are granted from above, and this is why I am confident that as we lift our voices to God today, He will hear us and deal decisively with those troubling the peace of this country,” Ogunleye said.
While commending the sponsor of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu in Ondo State and the Honourable Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for his tremendous assistances, prayed God for continued wisdom and strength for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his efforts to lead the country to a prosperous destination
He equally prayed for the protection of all operatives of the security agencies in Nigeria in its stride to rid the nation out of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities and their kingpins terrorising the country.
Prayers were offered by religious leaders in the state, while the event was attended by members of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) across the 18 Local Governments Area, members of the ruling party, l(APC) and several other women groups in Ondo State.
