...Ex- deputy governor pledges loyalty to the ruling party

The Ondo State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Ade Adetimehin has emphasised that the party would continue to remain stronger and united ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.Adetimehin spoke while receiving in former People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Barrister Alfred Agboola Ajayi and his supporters back to the ruling party,the event which was held at Igbekebo, the headquarters of Ese-Odo Local Government Area on Monday, marks another significant milestone in the progressives party in Ondo State.
Addressing defectors on mode of operandi of the largest political party in Africa, Ondo APC chairman noted that the door is still open for other members of opposition parties particularly those who will not allow their personal esteem to override the nation's interest.
While highlighting some of APC s key achievements both at the national and the state levels, Engr. Ade Adetimehin commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over the ongoing rural-urban renewal programmes, health reform, education, security and job creation.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the APC led-administration in the country in promoting unity, regional integration, and economic stability.
Ade Adetimehin, in a mid-time hinted that the defection of new members to the party would yield positive results for the APC in Ondo State.
According to Ondo state APC chairman “Today, our brothers have come back home, and we are happy and rejoicing. We are pleased to receive them back into the fold".
"I want to assure you that we will accord you the rights, privileges, and respect that you truly deserve,”
“He once a former House of Representatives member, former deputy governor, a former governorship candidate of PDP governorship candidate who came second in an election he contested in 2020 with late Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, and consequently, in the recent gubernatorial contest in Ondo State where he also came second".
"As a progressives party, APC committed to give birth to a new Nigeria as well new Ondo through the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa" he said.
In his remarks, Barrister Alfred Agboola Ajayi stated that he and his team defected to the APC in order to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the country at large.
The former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last 2024 gubernatorial election in the state, however, urged other opposition parties to join the APC and as well expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Engr. Ade Adetimehin for accepting them into the ruling party.
“Today, we are not just decamping; this is a movement. We have moved en masse back home—we left no one behind—because we believe in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the executive governor as well as the leadership of our party at both state and national levels.
“We are here to support you, Your Excellency. We are here to support the party. We are here to commit our loyalty to you and the APC,” Agboola stated.
