....As APC chieftain Tony Ayodeji begs Ayedatiwa to construct Oniparaga, Araromi-Obu routs
Residents, motorists and travellers who live and plying Oniparaga, Ago Alaye, Araromi-Obu, Ayesan road in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state have lamented the deplorable state of the roads.
The residents and motorists who spoke with "LOVELEADSNEWS Saturday" in separate interviews lamented continual neglect of the roads by Ondo State Government and its agencies for years in areas leading to Araromi-Obu- Ayesan, Ago Alaye- Oniparaga roads, among others.
Motorists including truck drivers of Araromi-Obu Rubber Estate PLC and its allies plying those routes expressed dismay that the government of Ondo State has paid lip service to their several complaints as many of the roads have become death-traps due to its deplorable conditions.
Our correspondent who visited Ayesan-Araromi Obu and Ago Alaye roads, a border town between Ondo and Ogun states saw dilapidated and abandoned roads where the people and its community leaders have tried to salvage so that it doesn’t worsen and get completely impassable.
A passer, Chief Omotehinse Simeon in an interview told LOVELEADSNEWS that the roads in the axis were in dire conditions as the efforts seen to patch up the roads were made through community self-help projects.
The octogenarian insisted that efforts to reach out to the Odigbo local government, state government and its agencies have been met with passive action as the much-needed development in road repairs, presence of social amenities and completion of abandoned projects are absent in the area and this according to Chief Omotehinse is symptomatic of several boundary communities in Ondo State.
According to him "Recently, the chairman of the local government Hon. Adegoroye Taiwo commenced drilling of boreholes but roads are essential".
“Our state government seems to have abandoned us. We have written letters, visited the Odigbo local government and met with its authority over decades, on the state of Oniparaga to Ayesan road which has suffered neglect by the state government and its agencies. But we do not see positive results as it’s all promises and promises,” Omotehinse said
Another leader and former military officer, Oladipo Obafemi Iyanda, lamented that Oniparaga-Araromi Obu road which also leads to Ayesan community and its environs has suffered neglect and lives and properties have suffered in this regard.
Member of the ex-service men is of the opinion that the state government which should rise to the occasion is overwhelmed by the road constructions and works to be done in every senatorial district, adding that governance is all about making life better and improving the living conditions of residents and people but this is not so.
Speaking on the state of things, a truck driver from the popular Rubber Company in the area who claimed anonymity also bemoaned the torrid state of the Oniparaga-Araromi Obu road, adding that no fewer than 15 logistics vehicles parked at the tarmac were in serious bad conditions and would need funds to get them back on the road despite the heavy tax paying to government purse.
“We are begging the state governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to help us look into this and fix Oniparaga-Araromi Obu roads as we transporters are suffering and cannot eke out a good living because of money we have to use for repairs” he said.
In a significant remarks, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Tony Ayodeji Olawuyi( PhD) appealed to the state and local governments to also consider the communities in border areas in its infrastructure development plans.
Olawuyi who is an Estate Developer, an academician stated that the Ondo State government needs to wake up and invest in infrastructure in Odigbo Constituency 2 as many ongoing projects taking effect in other Senatorial District of the state.
He urged the government to complete abandoned projects started by the previous governments in the area.
Dr. Tony Ayodeji posited that "Road leading to Ago Alaye, Araromi Obu and Ayesan usually receive care, maintainnce from the past governors in the state".
"Dr. Olusegun Agagu constructed it from the Lagos Ore Expresway junction (Oniparaga Junction) to Ayesan which was manage and renovated during Dr. Mimiko administration. Some major roads in Araromi Obu Community was constructed by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu".
"Oniparaga, Ago-Alaye, Araromi Obu, Ayesan Road consists Araromi Rubber Estate and Araromi Ayesan Oil Palm Plc. These companies contribute to the state IGR".
"Governor Ayedatiwa is from the South Senatorial District, I am expecting Mr. Governor will have comprehensive list of roads with him. He should ensure that these roads in the south receive life again as he's doing in other ongoing projects in Ondo state.
This followed, after a well-circulated video of an amputated man identified as Sefiu Adebanjo Abass who was seen sand filling potholes along Oniparaga-Araromi Obu axis after been invited by motorists plying the area.
