2027: Ondo South Senator-hopeful, Akinfolarin Pledges Inclusive Governance


As APC aborigines drum support for ex-reps member

The All Progressives Congress senatorial aspirant for Ondo South, Rt. Hon Mayowa Samuel Akinfolarin, has called for greater inclusion of women and youths in Nigeria’s political leadership, insisting that both groups must play a central role in shaping the country’s democratic future.

Akinfolarin stated this on Thursday while engaging stakeholders and APC aborigines in Ondo south senatorial district ahead of May 18 APC senatorial primaries

At the stakeholders meeting which was held at the headquarters of Okitipupa local government area of the state, Akinfolarin was unanimously adopted by party's aborigines as candidate capable to fill the vacant senatorial seat at the national assembly in Abuja. 

While highlighting the roles of women and  youths in the nation's political development, the senator-hopeful explained that stakeholders must go beyond merely managing challenges and instead adopt purposeful leadership and structured solutions.

He noted that while the district is endowed with abundant resources, talent and human capacity, it has long lacked representation capable of translating those potentials into tangible outcomes, stressing that his political intervention and aspiration are broader steps at bridging that gap.

Akinfolarin also explained that his political sagacity is designed as a platform for responsible leadership and system-driven governance, focused on job creation, improved security, and restoring hope and dignity among the people of Ondo south senatorial district.

The aspirant declared his determination to drive youth development and expand skills and economic opportunities for future generations.

Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, however, expressed confidence that he would be victorious in the forthcoming May 18 APC senatorial primary.

Speaking at meeting, the commissioner representing Ondo State at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC),Hon. Otito Atikase and former commissioner for water resources in the state Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju described Ondo south senate hopeful as astute politician with verifiable track record.

The duo insisted that Rt Hon Mayowa Akinfolarin remain most popular aspirant among those jostling for Ondo south senatorial seat, assured voters and other residents of the the district of sustainable development if former Ondo state deputy speaker could be considered to fill the vacant senatorial seat.

Earlier, Hon. Nimbe Tawose and the  immediate past Irele/Okitipupa federal house of representatives member, Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju, expressed confidence in the leadership of Akinfolarin, tasked all  registered APC members to come out enmass on the day of the party's primary and exercise their franchise without any fear of intimidation. 

Present at the meeting were members of Ondo State House of Assembly, the immediate past deputy speaker in the state, Rt. Hon. Samuel Aderoboye,former Ilaje local government chairman, Hon. Goke Jatuwase (PhD), his Odigbo counterpart Pastor Felix Olatunde and members of the 9th assembly.

Others includes; former Ondo south women leader of the party, youths  and other APC stalwarts across the six local governments of the senatorial district of the state.
