Three days to the burial of former governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a social-political group, the Ondo State Redemption Initiative (OSRI) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State of not showing commitment to the burial activities of his predecessor.
The group, in a statement by its President, Pastor Adebayo Ogunsanmi, Secretary, Jide Oriola, and Publicity Secretary, Sunday Ayeni said they have not seen any sign to show that Aiyedatiwa is mourning the death of his predecessor and benefactor.
Ogunsanmi, Oriola and Ayeni in the statement titled "Akeredolu's unforgiveable sin" said there is no where a billboard is erected by the State government announcing the death of the late governor.
According to them, they have traversed length and breath of Akure, the State capital and could not find any billboard signed by the government of the state in honour of the late governor.
Similarly, the group said it has not heard any jingle both on radio and television stations sponsored by the State government to honour Akeredolu who had governed the State for seven years.
The statement titled "Akeredolu's unforgivable sin" and signed by Ogunsanmi, Oriola and Ayeni said
"It is three days to the burial of late governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, billed to hold on Friday, February 23, yet there is no significant programme by the state government in memory of the former governor.
"Around Akure, the state capital, billboards in Akeredolu's memory dot the ancient town, But surprisingly, none by the state government. Rather, you see billboards by the southwest governors, family and friends of Aketi, but none signed by Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
"Could this be an oversight by the state government and Governor Aiyedatiwa or is this a deliberate action by Aiyedatiwa to punish Akeredolu for some sins he may have committed against him (Aiyedatiwa)? For whatever reaon(s), it is a wicked and unpardonable act by Governor Aiyedatiwa.
"Questions are being asked. In what way did Akeredolu offend Aiyedatiwa? Yes, the late governor did offend Aiyedatiwa. His offence, unknown to many, was to have picked a man who would later become his Achilles heel and evetual death as his deputy.
"On radio and television across the state, the jingles you hear about the passing of the man who governed the state for almost seven years are those sponsored by family, friends and associates. You will wonder does Aiyedatiwa not listen to the radio stations? Okay, he may be too busy to have time for those frivolities, but his aides and goons who are flooding the beer parlours with fairy tales should have mentioned it to him.
"In town, Aiyedatiwa's goons have coined names like O'datiwa and many more to show that they are truly in control of the state. But they probably forget that there is a limit that luck can drive a man in life.
"Today, Akeredolu is no more, and in three days time, he will be lowered six feet below the ground surface level! This sure is a huge lesson for today's man."
Although the group said Aiyedatiwa attended the service of songs and court session in honour of late governor, they said he should have complemented it with public announcement in honour of the late governor.
