Commends INEC, voters, security personnel
Hon. (Akoni) Ifabiyi Olatunji, the member representing Odigbo Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has commended voters and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election.
Speaking on Saturday shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 02, Ore II Onisere Ward 11, in Odigbo Local Government Area, Ifabiyi expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and said it offered hope for the 2027 general elections.
“The election is peaceful, calm, and there is a massive turnout of voters. If the process continues this way until the end, then we have hope for this country,” he said.
“So far, the exercise has been peaceful and transparent. The INEC ad hoc staff and security personnel have been commendable, particularly in my local government area. Here in Ore Ward 11, the process has been peaceful and orderly.”
Assessing the performance of INEC, the lawmaker said the commission had lived up to expectations.
“At this point, INEC is doing well. Kudos to them,” he added.
Ifabiyi also wished the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, Professor Dayo Faduyile, success at the polls.
Reports from across the district indicated that security was significantly reinforced, with the deployment of police officers, soldiers, and other security personnel to polling units and strategic locations across the six local government areas of Ondo South Senatorial District to ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, had earlier disclosed at a stakeholders’ meeting in Okitipupa on Tuesday that four political parties would participate in the by-election.
The parties contesting the election are the All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), and the Boot Party (BP).
