Ondo Lawmaker Congratulates Dayo Faduyile on Victory in Ondo South Senatorial By-Election

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akoni Ifabiyi Olatunji, has congratulated the Senator-elect for Ondo South Senatorial District, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, on his decisive victory in the recently concluded by-election.

In a congratulatory message issued on Monday through his Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Ajide, Hon. Ifabiyi described Prof. Faduyile’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence, trust, and overwhelming support he enjoys across the district.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Faduyile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 68,474 votes to defeat his opponents including the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who polled 1,411 votes, the Action Peoples Party (APP) also recorded 213 votes, while the Boot Party (BP) garnered 70 votes.

INEC conducted the by-election following the appointment of former Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s representative to the United Nations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of the senator-elect’s leadership qualities, Hon. Ifabiyi stated that the overwhelming mandate demonstrated the electorate’s confidence in Prof. Faduyile’s capacity, competence, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

The lawmaker also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what he described as a remarkable demonstration of equity, fairness, and inclusive leadership.

He noted that the governor’s support for Prof. Faduyile’s emergence to complete the tenure previously occupied by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim underscored his administration’s commitment to justice and balanced representation.

Hon. Ifabiyi further expressed appreciation to APC leaders, stakeholders, party supporters, and the people of Ondo South Senatorial District for their unity, dedication, and active participation throughout the electoral process, which culminated in the party’s victory.

While wishing Prof. Faduyile a successful and impactful tenure in the Senate, the lawmaker expressed confidence that he would provide effective representation and contribute significantly to the growth, development, and prosperity of Ondo South Senatorial District.

He also assured the senator-elect of the continued goodwill and support of the people of the district as he prepares to assume office.
