The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been conferred with the Most Eminent and Distinguished Son of the Church Award by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Archdeacon Lennon Anglican Church, Okeagbe Akoko, in recognition of his service to the Church, his community, and the nation.
The award was presented during a ceremony in Okeagbe Akoko by the Ajana of Afa Okeagbe Akoko, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mofolorunso Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin.
Tunji-Ojo, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by former Ondo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and State Secretary of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), Hon. Rasheed Badmus. He was accompanied by members of the BTO Political Family from Akoko North West Local Government Area.
The event attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, clerics, women groups, and supporters from Akoko North West and Akoko North East Local Government Areas. Among those in attendance were the APC Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Obanla (Ajapara), Prince Adetileewa Fafunmilade, Chief Kali Afe, Hon. Aiyegbusi Idowu (Mejemeje), Hon. Awe Azeez, Hon. Atinuke, members of the BTO Women Wing, and other stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Badmus described the honour as particularly meaningful because it came from the Minister's home church and community.
According to him, "This award is special because it came from the same church and community that raised the Honourable Minister. When the Church, the traditional institution, and your political family stand with you, it is a testament to a life of service and impactful leadership."
He expressed the Minister's gratitude to the Lord Bishop, the clergy, and members of the Diocese of Akoko, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), for the recognition. He also appreciated the Ajana of Afa Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Mofolorunso Samuel Adegboyega Arasanyin, for presenting the award and offering royal blessings.
The award is regarded as a recognition of Dr. Tunji-Ojo's contributions to public service and his enduring relationship with his faith community and hometown.
