New Chief Expresses Gratitude to Oba Michael Elumaro, Abodi of Ikale land, others

The newly installed Oloja of Yopiara (Uba) Community, Chief Oluwatosin Samuel Obamoyegun, has expressed gratitude to the traditional institution of Akotogbo Kingdom, members of the Obamoyegun-Olorogun family, friends and associates for their support before and during his installation.

Obamoyegun was at the weekend, conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title by the Larogbo of Akotogbo Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of Akotogbo Land in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Michael Elumaro Akinfolarin, Keneyin III, following the approval of the entire Obamoyegun-Olorogun family.

In a statement on Monday, the new chief described the honour as a remarkable recognition and expressed his appreciation to the monarch for the confidence reposed in him.

He said, “Kabiyesi, Oba Alaye Luwa, I thank you so immensely.”

Obamoyegun also expressed appreciation to Her Royal Highness, Olori Olawumi Akinfolarin, for the prayers she offered during his installation, describing the gesture as a demonstration of spiritual support.

He further commended members of the Larogbo traditional cabinet, including the Ijamas, chiefs, palace women and youths of Akotogbo, for their contributions to the success of the ceremony.

The new Oloja reserved special praise for the Obamoyegun-Olorogun family, both at home and abroad, for what he described as their “unfeigned love and support.”

He particularly acknowledged Rev. Robert Ogbeifun Obamoyegun, who chaired the planning and organisation of the installation, for his leadership and commitment to the process.

Obamoyegun also paid tribute to the Abodi and Paramount Ruler of Ikale Land, Oba George B. Faduyile, whom he described as a traditional grandfather who provided fatherly prayers, encouragement and assistance to the family during preparations for the installation.

“Kaaa... biyesi o!” he said in appreciation of the monarch.

The newly installed chief also thanked his friends, associates and colleagues who supported the ceremony in different ways, including those who made financial contributions and those who travelled through torrential rainfall and difficult road conditions to attend the event.

He described their sacrifices as evidence of “genuine love and brotherhood,” praying that God would reward them and fulfil the desires of their hearts.

The installation of Chief Obamoyegun as Oloja of Yopiara (Uba) Community adds another chapter to the traditional heritage of the community and underscores the continuing role of traditional institutions in fostering unity, identity and communal development.
