Report gathered that there was palpable tension in Ore metropolis on Monday,as those hawking for businesses under the popular Interchange flyover bridge christened Redemption Bridge in the southern part of Ondo State fumed over what they allegedly described as unlawful taxation by some government agents suspected to be Local Government representatives,
asking them to pay the sum of One hundred naira as hawking permit.

Speaking with loveleadsnews on the incident two if them, Mrs Francis Funke 61 and Mrs Ijeoma Sunday explained that they were all surprised when some men came around flyover bridge in Ore under the guise of Odigbo Local Government authority to introduce one hundred hawking permit.

Both Mrs Funke and Mrs Ijeoma while urging the State Government to help look into the matter noted that tye capital raised by some of them to start their menial businesses were ranging between two thousand naira to three thousand naira respectively were loaned by LAPO with interest rates.

They also maintenance that they are always on the road round the clocks under scorching sun and heavy rain to earn living with any assistance by the government,the government should allow them carry their cross without adding extra burden.

Another two roadside hawkers, Taofeeq Arigbabuwo (Male) and Chinyere Ogachi(Female) Arigbabuwo in their separate interviews also told our correspondent that there are many graduates among those of them, adding that they engage themselves in hawking along the road in order to guide against being involved in sex scandal, prostitution criminality and other illicit behaviours.

While pointing out what necessitated him to join on the run business Arigbabuwo Taofeeq,an orphan, stressed that he has completed his motorcycle mechanic apprenticeship four three years back but yet to get free from his master not to talk of establishing workshop due to financial incapability.

Those roadside hawkers after highlighting difficulties encounter while making sales for moving vehicles, however, appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON,to help look into the alleged extortion by Odigbo Local Government authority under Mrs Margret Akinsuroju led administration especially as at this time of unfavourable economic situation among common men in the country.

When contacting the Odigbo Local Government Chairman in order to clear air on the allegation, Mrs Margret Tale Akinsuroju in a phone conversation noted that the development is general,adding that the move became imperative as a means of generating revenue to government purse.
