Properties worth millions of naira were on Tuesday evening destroyed, while some residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state were rendered homeless by a devastating rainstorm.
Loveleadsnews correspondent gathered that some of the affected residents in Ore slept at their neighbours’ apartment due to the damages done to their houses.
The heavy rainfall which lasted for hours forced many residents to run helter skelter for their lives.
Schools, Church and a Mosque were destroyed by the heavy rainfall.
Speaking with our reporter who visited some of those areas in Ore, a landlady of one of affected houses, Mrs Musa Kadijat described the incident as tragic for herself and her tenants.
According to her, “The network pole of an old generational bank fell on our roof and destroyed it. All my tenants cannot sleep in thier rooms because of the rain.
“I want to thank God that no life was lost in the incident.
In the same vein, Mr Aderanti Ajilo while recounting his loss said, all his three houses were destroyed due to the rainstorm.
Loveleadsnews however learnt that no fewer than twelve houses were destroyed by the heavy rainfall as at the time of filing this report.
Report reaching from Akure,the Ondo State capital also indicated that, several buildings, school,shops and the community transformer were rampaged by the heavy storm that accompanied the rain, which started around 5 PM on Tuesday.
Roofs of the affected building were destroyed, a part of Akure High School fence was brought down by the heavy downpour.
The victims of the disaster appealed to state government and individuals to come to their aid.
As at the time of filing this report, the transformer of the area was not working because many of its cables were cut off and the poles bent.
Some of the affected areas in Akure are: Akure High School, Bypass, Danjuma, while in Ore; Omi Ayo, Olorunsogo and Sabo area.
The affected residents unanimously appealed the state government and some big wigs in the society to come to their aid by providing relief materials as succour.
