Awodogan Olusegun Bows Out of Ondo Public Service in Style

 ...As tributes pour in for a distinguished public servant

It was an atmosphere filled with nostalgia, gratitude, and celebration as Mr. Awodogan Emmanuel Olusegun, the Director of Commerce, Ondo  State Ministry of Çommerce and Industry, on Monday November 10 2025, bowed out of the State Public Service in grand style after decades of meritorious service.

The retirement ceremony, held at the Senior Staff Club, Alagbaka, Akure, drew dignitaries from government circles, captains of industry, family, friends, and professional colleagues who gathered to honour a man widely respected for his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication to public service delivery and humanity.

Mr. Awodogan, a consummate commercial artist and veteran economic expert, had spent the greater part of his career shaping the public narrative of Ondo State Government particularly, significant increment in the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state through constructive and effective marketing communications between the ministry and private industries within the state. 

He was credited for being instrumental in strengthening the image and operations of the Ministry of Çommerce and Industry, particularly in the era of Marketing Strategic Communication (MSC) and digital engagement.

Speaking at the event, former Special Adviser on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ifabiyi Olatunji, described Awodogan as “a thoroughbred professional who has not only mentored many but also elevated the Ministry through his sense of duty, calm demeanor, and strategic thinking.” 

He lauded the retiring Director of Çommerce’s role in deepening the public’s trust in government economic policy, especially during periods of economic crisis and reform.

The event also featured a Continuing Professional history in honour of Mr. Awodogan, where the serving lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency I underscored the importance of structured succession in public service to preserve institutional memory and maintain efficiency.

In his valedictory speech, an emotional Mr. Awodogan thanked God for sustaining him throughout his career and appreciated successive administrations in Ondo State for the opportunity to serve.

 He paid glowing tribute to his colleagues, subordinates, and all his partners in progress for their cooperation and support. “I leave fulfilled, knowing I have contributed my quota to the growth of our dear Ondo and its commercial real architecture. The journey was not always easy, but the reward of service far outweighs the sacrifices,” he remarked.

He also advised upcoming public servants to remain committed, maintain a learning mindset, and uphold integrity as the bedrock of civil service.

Highlight of the occasion included personal tributes, a low-key get-together and goodwill messages from staff, and other well-wishers.

As Mr. Awodogan Emmanuel Olusegun takes a bow from active public service, his legacy as a refined administrator under the ministry of commerce and industry, mentor, and model civil servant will continue to resonate within the Ondo State Government and beyond.
