As Adeyanju, Ifabiyi Call for APC Unity
There was jubilation in Oke-Igbo on Friday as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and residents of the Ileoluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency turned out in large numbers to welcome the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus Ayodele Adefiranye, following his victory in the APC primary election.
The atmosphere across parts of the constituency was filled with excitement as party supporters, community leaders, and residents gathered to celebrate the lawmaker after he secured the party's ticket to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing supporters during the reception, Adefiranye expressed gratitude to God and appreciated APC members across the constituency for their support, loyalty, and peaceful conduct throughout the primary election.
"I sincerely thank the APC family across the wards that make up the Ileoluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency for their overwhelming support and peaceful conduct during the primary election," he said.
The federal lawmaker described the visit as part of his long-standing tradition of returning home after every election to appreciate the people for their support.
"This is not my first election. I have contested several elections and won most of them. I consider it important to always return to the people to say thank you," he stated.
Adefiranye also called for unity among party members, urging both his supporters and those who contested against him to work together for the development of the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for what he described as a fair and transparent process, the party's House of Representatives candidate also commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for providing firm leadership during the period leading to the primary election.
He further expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the leadership of the APC for sustaining peace within the party and across the state.
"Politics is about inclusion. I call on everyone, including those who did not support me, to join hands with us to move the constituency forward. The constituency belongs to all of us," he added.
Responding to criticisms that followed the primary election, Adefiranye said he would remain committed to effective representation and service delivery rather than engaging in political propaganda.
"I do not respond to propaganda with propaganda," he said.
Speaking with journalists at the gathering, the member representing Odigbo Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akoni Ifabiyi Olatunji, and the immediate past Commissioner for Natural Resources, Mrs. Yetunde Adeyanju, appealed to other aspirants who participated in the APC primary election to unite in the interest of the party and the federal constituency.
They stressed that there was no victor or vanquished in the exercise, urging all party members to put the contest behind them and work together to ensure the APC's success in the 2027 general elections.
"There is no loser in the APC primary election. We should all come together in the interest of our great party and the development of the Ileoluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency," they said.
The APC National Working Committee (NWC) recently forwarded its revised list of senatorial and House of Representatives candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as the party's final decision in accordance with the Electoral Act and the party's guidelines.
