The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), a socio-political group mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, is set to launch the third phase of its medical outreach programme for elderly persons and other residents, regardless of political affiliation, across Ondo State.
The group also announced plans to tour major market squares across the state to empower market women with support aimed at expanding their businesses.
The Director-General of GMT in Ondo State, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, disclosed this on Thursday during a stakeholders' meeting held at the group's state secretariat in Akure to unveil the programme.
According to Ogunleye, the initiative is designed not only to provide medical assistance to residents but also to sensitise the people of Ondo State and other well-meaning Nigerians on why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves re-election in the 2027 general elections.
He commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for what he described as several initiatives aimed at mobilising members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the 2027 elections. Ogunleye expressed optimism that the GMT medical outreach, particularly its free eye care programme, would significantly reduce vision-related health challenges among beneficiaries.
The GMT director-general also praised the administration of President Tinubu for its efforts in promoting national unity, socio-economic transformation, security, and infrastructure development across the country.
Ogunleye however, expressed confidence that Ondo State would deliver one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election in the country.
Speaking on the outcome of the APC's recently concluded primaries, the GMT State Secretary, Hon. Rasheed Badmus, and the State Women's Leader, Mrs Olamide Falana, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the party's National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for what they described as ensuring fairness in the process.
The duo maintained that all the candidates shortlisted for the National Assembly elections deserved their return tickets, stressing that they emerged victorious in the party's primaries through a transparent and decisive process.
The Director General of GMT in Ondo State, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, said the second phase of the medical outreach programme is scheduled to commence next week.
